Welcome to Kindergarten!

Children who are five years old by September 1, 2024, are eligible for Kindergarten in the fall.

Kindergarten is an integral part of the school district's total education program. Classroom instruction includes reading, writing, mathematics, science, instruction in art, social studies, physical education, and music. Students attend kindergarten in their neighborhood school. All kindergarten classes span a full day. Each neighborhood school offers kindergarten. Newberg-Dundee Public Schools also has two optional programs families may enroll in.

Dual Language Program

The Dual Language program began in the 2013-2014 school year at the kindergarten level with an additional grade level added to the program each year. The class of 26 students consists of an equal number of native English and Spanish speakers. This is a full-day kindergarten program located at Edwards Elementary School. Students are selected for this program each year in a lottery. The lottery is held after the kindergarten roundup. Students in the Migrant Preschool Program are automatically eligible along with students who have siblings already in the program.
