Retirees Step up to Support School District

Volunteers could be spotted throughout the School District on Wednesday, July 27. Sue Bisset, a Dundee Elementary teacher who retired in June of 2020, and her husband, Phil Bisset, offered their support with filing and painting this week.

A dozen retirees from the Newberg-Dundee School District returned this week to support the community during the all-staff Welcome Back event on Wednesday.

This wide range of helpers – teachers and classified staff, former board members and administrators – took on some of the most painstaking and physical tasks: painting, cleaning, and sorting through boxes of files. They were just in time, right before the school year kicks off next week.

But you may see them again! We’d have been grateful for one visit, but many of them plan to be regular helpers. So keep an eye out this year for some of our hardest workers, a seemingly tireless team of retirees bearing volunteer badges. If you do spot them, thank them. They may have retired from our School District, but their hearts are still here and we are so glad that they followed their hearts back to us for as much time as they wish to give us.
