Communications: A Farewell

Dear Newberg-Dundee Community,

After my reduction in force due to the budget shortfall, I didn’t want to disappear without offering a proper goodbye. Before I go on Aug. 15, please let me share a little bit about what I loved about this small and spectacular community in this farewell note. I’ll miss you, and I won’t forget you.

I will miss: running into everyone I know at Chapters or Coffee Cat (and meeting new people), end-of-the-year parties and ceremonies (especially the Grad Walk), finding myself regularly involved in, helping to schedule, or taking photos of acts of service with great frequency (PTOs and Booster Clubs, A-dec, GFU, Rotary, etc.), and from my office window, hearing the laughter of the Edwards children playing outside at recess.

I will also miss joking with my coworkers (especially during some of our toughest times) and, most of all, meeting amazing students every day (the military academy trio, a gifted artist at Catalyst, our Students Reps on the School Board, and so many others).

My role was to write your stories and fill the website, social media pages, and newsletters full of relevant and important information. I didn’t always achieve every task to perfection, but I always gave my all with the resources I had at hand.

Moving forward, I know our staff will strive to serve everyone as best as we can. I know Newberg-Dundee will be okay. I don’t need to know what’s going to happen next.

Even without knowing the future, I know that this community will remain as special as it ever was, for, even if we can’t see it, we know that here in this community, as Francis P. Church once said, “Love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy.”

So, I’m saying goodbye to this beautiful, little community, full of love, generosity, and devotion. Once again, I’ll miss you, and I won’t forget you.

Sincerely,
