Student Achieves Superior Band Rating

Kaden Christensen, Mountain View Middle School, Band/Choir Teacher, had some exciting news to share: "I wanted to share a highlight with you regarding one of our students, Reagan Herboldt. Reagan, as some of you know, is a very involved band student. She is my TA and is actively involved in Jazz Band and Advanced Band.

She loves to play French horn, something she does at an extremely high level for an eighth-grader.

On Saturday, April 13, Reagan performed in the OMEA District 14 Solo and Ensemble Day. It provides middle school students in our region a chance to perform a solo in front of a judge for feedback and scores. Reagan met with her piano accompanist twice last week before performing for a third time on April 13 To say the judge was impressed with her was an understatement. The judge was completely caught off guard when she found out Reagan was self-taught.

She earned an overall "Superior-I" rating, which is the highest score possible and something they give out sparingly. When you see her, hype her up a bit! I hope she continues to do things like this in high school as well."
