Who’s Who? Profile: Amy Stephens

Amy Stephens, Behavioral Health and SPED Coordinator

 

Daily tasks: 

  • Thoroughly enjoy working with our Newberg-Dundee Public Schools community, serving our students and families together.
  • Teaming with some fantastic educators to ensure access to learning is best supported
  • Collaborate with teams to support the growth of behavioral and mental health supports for our staff, students, and families within our schools.

 

Your main goal: 

My main goal is to help strengthen a collaborative learning community for staff and students, resulting in rigorous and equitable learning experiences for us all.

 

Experience: 

Education: I am thankful to have had a variety of experiences within education through roles including Fifth-Grade Teacher, First/Second-Grade Teacher, Special Educator, Teacher Mentor and Coach, and now as a Behavioral Health and Special Education Coordinator. I’ve also enjoyed coaching soccer and track.

In addition to educational experiences, I’ve been a part of some amazing teams providing accessible mental health care for adults.

  • Lewis & Clark College, Administrative Licensure

 

Skills/Hobbies:

Being a native Oregonian, I am happiest when I am outside enjoying a local hike, a trip to the beach, or paddle boarding a nearby river. Taking my family on local road trips are some of my favorite experiences. 

 

Family: Matt, my husband, and I are thankful to have four kids who keep us busy: Paul, 20; Zora, 17; Chloe, 16; and Nina, 11.
