Many working families want to volunteer at their child’s school, but it is hard for them to sign up in person during office hours — and online volunteer forms aren’t for everyone.
So the PTOs and the District’s Communications Team teamed up and scheduled the Volunteer Sign-Up Fair from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17. The event will be in the lobby of the Performing Arts Building of Newberg High School, 2400 Douglas Ave.
Newberg High School Educational Assistant Claudia Moralesvelazquez and Assistant Principal’s Secretary Sandra Tinoco plan to attend to offer Spanish-English interpretation!
Parents and guardians can fill out volunteer forms and learn more about local opportunities. Several PTO groups (but not all) from throughout the district and the NHS GSA have committed to attending. Plus, there will be three community groups attending: Ballet Folklórico De Nuestros Ancestros (demonstrating traditional Mexican folk dancing), the Chehalem Cultural Center, and the Chehalem Park and Recreation District. If you have a sweet tooth, thank Mabel Rush parent Amanda Dillingham for providing cookies for everyone at the event. (There may also be sweets at some tables.)
