Who’s Who? Profile: Lacey McNay

A few of your main daily tasks:  

  • Being an active presence in both school communities to promote a positive and inclusive school climate and culture.
  • Meeting with students to problem solve in creative ways and to engage in restorative conversations when needed.
  • Supporting staff in creating conducive learning environments that allow students to thrive!

 

Your main goal: My main goal is for all students and staff to feel safe, respected, and supported at both Crater and Joan Austin. 

 

Experience: 

  • 6 years as a classroom Teacher 
  • 2 years as a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) and TAG Specialist and an Administrative Intern
  • 1 year as a Dean of Students
  • In the midst of my first year as an Assistant Principal

 

Education: 

  • George Fox University, BS in Elementary Education (Endorsements: ESOL, Middle School Science, Early Education)
  • Concordia University, MA in Curriculum & Instruction (Leadership focus)
  • Whitworth University, Principal Certification program

 

Skills/Hobbies: 

  • I enjoy reading and listening to podcasts. I also love spending time outdoors, going on walks and hiking. I love music and enjoy playing the piano and singing. I have been lucky to travel to some amazing places and look forward to my next adventure! 

 

Family: I grew up in Newberg but moved away after college. I am from a very tight-knit family and cherish being back in the area so I can spend more time with them!
