Thanks to A-dec and Volunteers, Local Kids Enjoy Lessons in a Lunchbox

Newberg-based dental equipment manufacturer A-dec brought an oral hygiene program called Lessons in a Lunchbox to Newberg-Dundee Public Schools this February.

Through Lessons in a Lunchbox: Healthy Teeth Essentials and Facts About Snacks, a national program that A-dec is providing locally, third-graders and second-graders heard a presentation on brushing and healthy eating habits. Dental Hygienist Jessica Leonard, who works for Capitol Dental Care, led most of the presentations, but other amazing volunteers helped out as well.

In addition to the presentation, each child received a carrot-shaped lunch box with a mirror and a screw-on top that doubles as a rinsing cup. Each lunch box included a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, and dental floss. The program will wrap up with a final visit to Crater.

Lessons in a Lunchbox is a program through The Children’s Oral Health Institute, a Maryland nonprofit that is dedicated to promoting dental hygiene through its outreach programs.

Thank you, A-dec, Ms. Leonard, and all of our volunteers! We appreciate everything that you did to bring this important educational program to our schools!
