This week’s Spotlight is of Dalila Ortiz Froylan, a fourth-grade Dual Language Teacher at Edwards Elementary School. Edwards Secretary Megan Covarrubias nominated her. Covarrubias said: “I want to nominate Ms. Ortiz for the Spotlight because I believe she makes a difference in her students' lives. She teaches them in her unique way by doing a lot of hands-on experiments alongside teaching them bookwork.

She is very friendly and funny but also knows when to be stern, so the kids know she means business. She makes not only our staff laugh, but also her students laugh. She is very attentive to her students' needs and makes sure they are being heard.

I believe she is also fair with her students and applies consequences appropriately. She also engages while the children are at recess and plays with her students. She is just a joy to have as a staff member and to know that the students who get to have her as a teacher are in the best hands. She is also a hard worker and I see her working even after her contract time to have things ready to go for her students.”
