Activities, events, and more for grade levels 9-12:

  • Newberg High School:
    • Jan 25, 26, 27: “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” a Shakespearean classic, 7:00 p.m.
    • Feb. 3: Regional Acting Competition
    • Feb. 21: NHS Boosters meeting, featuring grant reviews to help fund the student activities and athletics. All meetings are at 6:30 at the main commons at NHS. Other meetings will be held on March 20, April 17, May 15, and, tentatively in June
    • Feb. 28: Band Concert
    • Feb. 29: Small Ensemble/Solo Concert
    • March 1: Spring String Fling
    • March 2: OMEA District/Solo Ensemble
    • March 7 to 9 and 14 to 16: The winter play, 7:00 p.m.
    • March 9: Spring Play
    • March 16: NHS Boosters will hold its 16th annual auction and dinner, the Golden Sweet Sixteen, at the Stoller Experience Center. The event will feature an online auction, in-person live auction, dinner, wine wall, private tasting, and more. Sponsors and donations will be accepted through March 1. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 1, and only 150 tickets will be available.
    • April 4 to 6: State Thespian Festival Conference
    • May 2 to 4: Musical Theater Class Presentation, 7:00 p.m. (details to follow)
    • May 23 to 25: Tournament of Plays: One Act Competition, 7:00 p.m.
    • June 4: Theater Awards, 7:00 p.m.
  • Catalyst Alternative High School:
    • Feb. 5: Learning Cycle 4 begins
    • March 18: Discovery Class

Middle Schools
  • CVMS:

    • The Spirit Assembly: Afternoon Activity was to happen on Jan. 19 and will be rescheduled.
    • Feb. 8: CVMS Parent Group meets. Meetings are held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the CVMS Library. The meetings planned for this year will be held on Mar. 14, April 11, May 9, and June 13.

    • Feb. 8: CVMS Jazz Band Concert (NHS Auditorium)

    • Feb. 27:Advanced Band Concert (NHS Auditorium)

    • March 1: Strings Spring Fling

    • March 12: CVMS Band & Choir Concert

    • Feb. 8: The MVMS Parent Group meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. The next meetings will be on March 14, April 11, May 9, and tentatively on June 13.

    • Feb. 8: MV Jazz Band Concert

    • Feb. 10: MV Jazz Band attends the West Salem Jazz Festival

    • Feb. 16 to 17: MS Honor Orchestra and Band visit McMinnville High School

    • Feb. 27: MV Advanced Band Concert

  • Crater:

    • Jan. 23: Crater PTO’s all-day MOD Pizza fundraiser

    • Jan. 24: Crater PTO meetings are all held at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. The next meetings will be held on Feb. 21, March 20, April 17, and May 22.

    • Feb. 10: Crater PTO Fundraising Auction, with the slogan, “Wine, Dine, and Donate,” will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E Sheridan St. in Newberg. Buy tickets at www.craterpto.org/crater-auction.

  • Dundee:

    • RESCHEDULED: The Kids Heart Challenge will now kick off on Jan. 26.

    • Jan. 25: Fifth-Grade Families: Outdoor School Information Meeting, 5:30 p.m.

    • Feb. 7: The Dundee Parent Group meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. Meetings are always held at the same time and place on the second Wednesday of the month. This year's meetings will be held on: March 13, April 10, May 8, and June 12. Note: Childcare will not be available this month, but there will be a space in the back of the library for kids to color or draw quietly.

  • Edwards:

    • Jan. 25: Edwards Dual Language Night, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

    • Feb. 12: Edwards Volunteer Organization (a group of parents and supporters) gathers. Meetings are always held on the second Monday of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Edwards Library. The next meetings will be held on March 11, April 8, and May 13.

  • Ewing Young:

    • Jan. 23: The EYST (parent group) meeting is always held at 2:30 p.m. in the Library. Upcoming meeting dates for this year include Feb. 20, March 19, April 16, and May 14.

    • Feb. 3: The EYST’s Ewing Young Auction, a fundraiser with the theme “Share the Love,” will be held at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E Sheridan St. in Newberg. Happy hour will be at 4:00 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m., with a live auction to follow. The cost will be $40 per person or $75 per couple. Purchase tickets at ewingyoung.auction. Participants who buy tickets before Jan. 10 will be entered into a drawing for a "mystery bag" valued at $150!

  • Joan Austin:

    • RESCHEDULED: The Kids Heart Challenge was to be held during a snow day and will now start ticking on Jan. 26. To participate, register at http://www2.heart.org/goto/joanaustin or by downloading the free American Heart Association Schools app for Apple or Android.
    • Jan. 23: Parent-Student Organization (PSO) meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. This year’s PSO meetings will be on Feb. 20, March 19, April 16, and May 21. Meetings will not be held in December or June.

    • Feb. 9: Family Movie Night, 6:00 p.m., a parent group event

    • April 8 to 12: Scholastic Book Fair, a parent group event

    • April 11: Math Night

    • April 26: Family Movie Night, 6:00 p.m., a parent group event

    • May 6 to 10: All Staff Appreciation Week

  • Mabel Rush:

    • Jan. 23 and 25: Outdoor School Parent Meeting 6:30 p.m. in the Library

    • Feb. 13: Parent Group Meeting, 6:00 p.m. The Mabel Rush parent and volunteer group, Partners in Education (PIE), will meet from January to May on the second Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Mabel Rush Library and on Zoom.
