Rotarians Honor School District with Donation

At its regular weekly gathering on Jan. 9, Newberg Noon Rotary Community Service Chair Becky Ankeny handed Superintendent Stephen W. Phillips a donation to support all of the Newberg-Dundee School District's resource rooms.

"The School District is deeply grateful for this generous gift that will positively impact families in need in our community," Phillips said. "We also appreciate the ongoing support of our community's Rotary clubs. Thank you for all that you do and have done as tireless supporters of our students and families."

Newberg Noon Rotary Foundation, with a matching grant from Rotary International, provided the School District with a gift of $3,700. The Rotarians have also committed to providing volunteers and additional supplies to the resource rooms.

All of the local schools' resource rooms provide items to students in need. According to its web page, the Resource Room at Newberg High School, for example, "is a place for any NHS or Catalyst student having a difficult time accessing basic needs including school supplies, hygiene products, clothing, shoes, basic household items, and non-perishable food."
