Spotlight is a weekly honor for staff for which a colleague's nomination is required. These amazing Spotlight recipients may receive more honors as the year progresses.

Nominator John Niebergall chose Jessica Abbott, an English Teacher at Catalyst Alternative High School: “As a longtime teacher, but new to NSD, and with all things electronic, Jessica has been invaluable in helping me learn how things work in 2023, i.e., online grading, Google Classroom, OKICOAM snapshot recorder, and other tech stuff. She has been patient with me and not been flustered by my simple and continued questions.”
Honorary Spotlight
Nominator Taylor Reed chose a worker who is technically here on contract through ProCare, so this nominee is our Honorary Spotlight this week: “I would like to nominate nurse Katherine Gorania, School District Nurse, Joan Austin Elementary. I want to nominate her for all the hard work she does with all the different schools in the area and for having such a big heart.”

The nomination may not appear online and in the Employee Newsletter immediately, as there are dozens of nominations planned for the year already! However, all nominations are seriously considered.
