Spotlight is a weekly honor for which a colleague's nomination is required. These amazing Spotlight recipients may receive more honors as the year progresses.
Ewing Young Head Custodian Albert Segundo received five nominations for Spotlight.
Here are excerpts from all of his nominators.
Teacher Gracelyn Hardy wrote: “I am nominating Albert because of his consistent dedication and positivity day in and day out. He takes so much pride in the way he cares for our school and truly makes it a second home for the staff and students. We are so grateful for Albert and all he does!”
Teacher Stephanie Wiard said: “Albert goes over and beyond for staff, families, and students! He greets every student each day and shows interest in them. He also keeps our school in top condition and does all of this with a smile on his face! I am grateful to work with him!”
Teacher Maya Wheeler said: “Albert takes care of everyone and everything in our school. He greets kids every morning as they get off the bus and they all love him. If there's something I need, I don't have to wait. He immediately takes care of teachers' needs. When I enter the building, I'm frequently welcomed with a ‘Good morning, Wheeler! How's your day? Is there anything you need? Have a great day!’ from Mr. Segundo. He anticipates our needs and keeps the school tip-top.”
Principal Scott Henderson said that Segundo is “a hard worker and a huge asset to our success here at EY.”
Teacher Austin Taylor said Segundo “continues to be an inspiration by his hard work and dedication to our school and the children in our building.”
