We are introducing our new Student Columnist, Cameron Kelly, a senior at Newberg High School. We chose her not only because of her sterling recommendations from Teachers Kaylee Tolley and Andrew Gallagher but also her own impressive application. To learn more about who she is and all that she wishes to achieve, read the strong and intelligent application that she shared with us:
"I would like to be a Student Columnist because I would get the opportunity to raise awareness regarding important issues, inspire others by highlighting extracurricular activities offered at NHS, and make a positive impact on my school and community. This will provide improved connectedness between NHS and the City of Newberg. Being a Student Columnist would help me to develop my writing skills further and gain valuable experience for the future. This is an opportunity for me to improve my critical thinking skills, connect with Newberg residents, and add to my portfolio. I qualify for this role because I am a strong student with significant involvement in athletics, NHS, and the greater Newberg community. I would love the opportunity to provide beneficial connections and communication between NHS and the community overall."
