Advanced Placement Options: Newberg High School students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) classes in English, math, science, art and social studies. Through AP Exams, students have the opportunity to earn credit at many of the nations colleges and universities. The only prerequisite is a strong curiosity about the subject and a willingness to work hard. Advanced Placement courses offer students numerous benefits: a head start on college level work, the opportunity to stand out in the college admissions process & broaden their own intellectual horizons. To earn AP credit, the student must take the AP Exam offered each May and score a minimum of a three. The cost is TBD.

During the 2023-2024 school year, students will be required to register for the AP exam in the fall.  All AP testing will still take place in the spring, but students must sign up for the test(s) they will want to take in the fall.  Read more about AP testing.

Community College Dual Credit Options: Several Newberg High School courses offer dual credit options at Portland Community College, Linn-Benton Community College, and Chemeketa Community College. Dual enrollment courses provide an opportunity for students to engage in advanced coursework approved and endorsed by a local community college. Students pay a $35.00 flat fee per year to enroll in these courses. These courses award college credit to students who meet minimum requirements and above. These credits transfer to any school in the Oregon University System (University of Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State University, etc.). Success in these courses is dependent on the student’s commitment to college level coursework.
